Enterprise Engineering GUI application Development

Web GUI for Emerson Network Power Systems

Client

Emerson

The Opportunity

Emerson Electric Company (NYSE: EMR) an American multinational corporation headquartered in Ferguson, Missouri, United States, is the Fortune 500 Company manufactures products and provides engineering services for a wide range of industrial, commercial, and consumer markets.

The challenge is of finding highly skilled system users for Emerson to maintain and serve the requests of the Emerson Network Power System. This challenge was to be addressed by developing application which allows users with minimal knowledge to attend to these requests with ease, to control conditionally & allow configuring / invoking services intuitively using the GUI interfaces.

Solution

System Services Framework (SSF) Web GUI is a user interface solution embedded into their Network Power System to help Emerson system components operate together as a user friendly system. This is a web based user interface to the existing SSF core which would allow users to field-deploy systems, configure and manage software and hardware components easily. And these inputs are provided by the XML Agent which resides on the system and is a collection of the services, protocols, configuration restrictions and default configurations.

Covalense Global has done the design & development and continuing the next phases of the application along with support & maintenance.

Benefits / Business Impact

Highly secure and reliable application to ship along with their Network Power System
Development of intuitive and user friendly interface, which reduced the overhead of highly skilled workforce operating the system
Development of code using open source framework tools and libraries & Practically defect free system
Single Authentication in PHP using sockets, achieved by developing a Daemon using C++ which acts as a proxy between Emerson SSF Core and SSF Web GUI using multi-threading

Technologies

Zend 1.11, PHP, C++, Dojo Tool Kit, Linux (Wind River), Apache Server, phpUnit, Jquery, JavaScript
